Mission and Vision
Working towards developing strong technical & space leadership with India’s youth.
The Kalpana Chawla ISU Scholarship has been established to honor the memory of the first Indian-American astronaut, Dr Kalpana Chawla, who tragically perished while broadening humanity’s knowledge through space-based research. A flag dedicated to the scholarship in Dr. Chawla’s memory will be flown in space aboard NASA Space Shuttle Discovery on the STS-133 mission launching in 2011 to the International Space Station.
The scholarship & endowment is used to provide scholarship funding for Indian nationals to attend either the Summer Space Studies Program or the Masters in Space Studies/Space Management Programs at the International Space University.
The purpose is to attract talented young Indian students with backgrounds in science, medicine, and other space-related activities, that share Dr. Chawla’s selfless persona and passion for academic excellence. This scholarship will allow students to continue their pursuit of knowledge with colleagues on the international stage. We look forward to your gracious support and participation.
